In the center of her workshop, on the heavy wood table, the potter strikes the red ground, flattens it, rolls it like a paste for tart, equalizes it, scallops it, impacts it with selected motives. The ceramist artist is begining her creation: a festooned vase furnished with roses in decoration. She elaborates the big cup, widens it, supports the fragile clay which will dry gently on free air before being subjected to the fire of a slow cooking. The enamels will coat the pottery and will make it a ceramics of value. Valerie Casado is a present ceramist who works with old technicals; she is not a raku  potter; the past remains in this continuous hand work which gives to each part that single character: in the form and in the rare motive of centenaries laces. Its workshop does not have any power tool: wood racks furnish the walls: zones of drying, zone of enamelling, and storage section of her collection in permanent exposure: piles of plates, bowls, bigs cups, vases, tea cups and under cups, spoons, asian rods... ... The “art of the table” is there present everywhere on the rough pine boards.

Two furnaces occupy an angle: the smaller for creation, search of new forms, enamel tests, and colors studies, and the more important for the orders and the very large parts. A vat for enamel, reserves of ground, desk,  computer, and everywhere  the exceptional laces reddened by clay, break the rhythm of the wood boards on which some studies of fine sculptures slice with the plates: birds with  spread wings, massive frogs, snails with timid antennas   ... but also angels, hearts, and letters which spell the word “love”...
